How much has the IPL lost out on by not having Pakistani players?

masti asked:

Surely theres a huge audience in Pakistan, but I’m sure many of them would still watch the IPL without Pakistani players.
Has it had an effect on the IPL financially?

alot actually considering the talent on offer such as shahid afridi and the t20 specialists misbah ul haq and umer gul, besides these players in the international squad just take a look at the talents in ICL lahore badshahs team made up of pakistani players they won the league i think last season just shows they could make a big impact if they were to play in the IPL.

And am british pakistani still enjoy watching the other amazing world calss players in the IPL however the only notable pakistani player in the IPL was sohair tanvir who took the most wickets in the previouse IPL season.

nothing by their absence. If you watch the bench strength, you’ll agree it is not significant and it has no impact on the cash register also.

I don’t think anyone missed the Pakistani players.
Moneywise, Franchisees would have saved the money which otherwise would have gone to these players. Also the money that would been required for the transportation of Pak players from India/Pakistan to South Africa and across South Africa and other expenditures is also saved.
Other than that, the presence (or absence) of Pakistani players will have no impact on IPL.

When I see the dugouts, I see a lot of foreign players sitting idle. Those players would have added to the expenditure.

Financially, IPL may not have lost much in comparison. But a team like Kolkata certainly missed Umar Gul.

    i dont think so

sohail tanveer was opmerkelijk in ipl 1
umar gul is momenteel de beste t20 bowlingspeler
