What is the reason for the Kolkata Knight Riders so badly this IPL?

*Stranger-in-Moscow* asked:

Yes, there have been issues with this team and it got off on a bad note with the whole “multi-captain” theory. People are quick to blame SRK and Buchanan. But they are people who only work behind the scenes. What about on the field?

Ganguly has not really done much this IPL either. Apart from Gayle, nobody has looked any good. Even last year, KKR only finished 6. Its not as if, if Ganguly was captain, KKR would have been a bunch of winners.

They lack team spirit, too much controversies going on in the dressing room. You can see the difference, just compare Rajhastan Royals and KKR. Shane Warne is very involved, acknowledges his players for their effor, always involved. I haven’t seen dad doing that nor Brendon

Contrary to general perception, desi captains are doing better than the phoren ones, Gilly and Warne being exceptions. The new KKR captain doesn’t radiate any confidence, he’s been a flop as batsman, and I think that’s the main reason for the flop show. I don’t blame the coach, but SRK should have known better. I don’t say Ganguly would have been an instant success, but he’d have given better results; now it’s too late.

    Thats easy mate

    They lack team spirit
They’re full of youth but no experience
They’re batting orders probably weakest in the competition even weaker then Rajistan Royals
They’re finding it hard to bat on the South African Pitch
And with Brendon Mcullum out of form they need somone to form a good partnership with Chris Gayle Which isn’t happening and As for Sourave ganguly he was out of form last year and seems to be in even worse form this year.

yeah mabye its because the teams playing poorly and other teams are better than them.

co captains aint that bad but really u should have a captain and vice captain and the captain makes the final decision.
after playing tests and odi matches it takes a while to get back into the 20/20 format and the preasure of having to awlways smash the ball and get things done in quick time.

once kolkata play some more games they’ll be alright

    Lack of coordination.
Buchanan should have stayed behind and worked for the betterment of the team instead of talking from the front.SRK too unnecessarily got into controversies.
This has affected the team’s spirit and McCullum’s batting was also affected by the captaincy.

McCullum is not captaincy material and Buchanan has stuffed up his game by burdening him with it. Also there is no teamwork.

They sacked Dada and that’s why they are losing. Instead of sacking Dada, they must have sacked the crazy John Buchanan.

I think the players are as much responsible for bad performance as the coach is. After all it is the players who play on the field. Controversies have not helped the team as well. There seems to be a rift in the team.Too much publicity has been given to the team and the whole multiple captaincy theory has been blown out of proportion by Buchannan.
